Bees wax anyone?

My baby turned 19 yesterday.... He's  nearly a man.  He turned legal, friends called suggested they go get drunk...After all he could. But I think he realized like most of us when the fun is taken out and you  don't have to hide any longer it changes the playing field a little bit. There was an aura of maturity..

Yesterday I tried something different. I have this severe neropathy, I am resigned it's not getting better according to two specialists. I find some of the time I get some relief from warmth. I will wrap my heating pad or use my mini bean bag I made to keep it warm.
It was suggested I try hot wax treatment.  Kind of out of my budget but my friend suggested  I try  her friend that was experimenting, didn't have a client base I was her first.

I saw this bowl of  yucky wax it was a bit of a mess if you ask me.  From stirring some slipped over the edge.  She massaged my hand very gently at first. Nearly put me to sleep! She then lowered my hand into this ugly yellow wax mixture. It felt hot but then it felt  soft and warm on my hand. So very relaxing you wished there was a tub of it to slip into.  It was kept at a certain temperature. I left my hand in for 30 minutes. It felt lovely having the wax  peeled off. My hand was so incredibly soft.. I don't believe it did anything for the nueropathy however 30 minutes of relaxation quiet music in a dimly lit room did more good than eating your favourite chocolate bar!

Unfortunately for me I have lost a lot of use of my left hand.  I can no longer carry anything lift or hold objects without dropping them. I exercise it daily so my hand does not atrophy. I  have spasms that are more frequent, therefore I have increased my squishing the squishy ball.
Just one more side effect from Chemo that  is not going to go away......

  1. Happy Birthday Nate!

The drinking age still is 21 over here in the States but in less than an hour, kids 19-20 can zip over to Ontario, which drove me crazy when Josh was that age.

I am so sorry that Taxol still manages to cast its evil shadow..hopefully it will resolve in time.

  2. Hi Alli,

The wax treatment does sound warm and cosy even if it hasn't immediately 'healed' you...maybe you will feel some effects if you continue?

I wish you less pain in 2012 and send you so much love
